The Médoc region
Between ocean and estuary : The Middle Land
Médoc means the middle country.

It is indeed situated on the 45th parallel, framed by the Atlantic Ocean in the west, but with the protection of an immense forest, and by the Gironde estuary in the east. This location bestows upon it ideal temperate climate.

Médoc also enjoys a unique terroir where know-how enabled traditional varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot) to develop their elegant and subtle qualities.

These qualities also come from a soil mostly made up of gravel and sand, or of clay and limestone which is especially suited to produce great quality grapes.
In the very heart of this region 60 Grands Crus Classés, 400 Crus Bourgeois, 300 Crus Artisans and the labels from the Caves coopératives or the Négociants show, each at their proper level, the exceptional character of the 8 Appellations d’Origine Contrôlée of Médoc.
