Listrac-Médoc A.O.C.
The Listrac-Médoc and Moulis-en-Médoc appellations , right in the heart of Médoc wine country, owe their uniqueness to a tectonic fault (in geology, distortion of the crust) : an anticline (a fold of stratified rock in which the strata slope downwards from the crest) happened to modify the subsoil, raising the subjacent limestone strata.

The Listrac estates are situated on the roof of Médoc (43 m above sea water), with Pyrenean gravelly hills, surrounded with limestone soils or clay and chalk soils; they produce wines with a strong colour, renowned for their strength and robustness, with a good tannic structure, and presenting both delicacy and elegance. These wines have a tight structure, and they can be a little harsh when young.

Categories of Crus : 29 Crus Bourgeois, 12 Crus Artisans and other Crus.
