This is the smallest of the appellation areas in the Libournais. There you can see the perfectly preserved Château Saint-Georges dating from a barony in the Middle Ages, now transformed into a Louis XVI style palace

The appellation area is enclosed by the Montagne A.O.C. area, and the Barbanne River separates it from the Saint-Emilion area.
The terroir is therefore similar to that of its neighbours, that is, consistent limestone slopes enjoying a very good southern exposure.

Saint-Georges wines are full of colour, with a deep dense crimson colour, and well-structured; their velvety and fruity tannins increase in complexity with age.
