Puisseguin-Saint-Emilion A.O.C.
The strategic location appealed to Seguin, a lieutenant of Charlemagne, so he had a castle built in that region. His name coupled with the word Puy (meaning a Mount) gave its name to the village

Erosion dug into the limestone plateau and cut several valleys; the subsoil is stony and ferruginous in places ; also the soil contains more limestone than the one supporting other AOC called « satellites de Saint-Emilion ».

These wines are more rustic and more full-bodied than the other Libournais AOC. Their colour is deeper, and these wines mature well with age.
