This appellation is situated on the boundary of Périgord. It owes its name to the village of Francs and it is the most continental of the Bordeaux wine regions. On the hills the vineyards
share space with woods, meadows and other crops

There is a diversity of soils through this appellation according to the location; the slopes are of clay and limestone over a subsoil of limestone or marl, while the dales are clayey.
The red wines are attractive, true to type, robust and generous, with red fruit notes and harmonious tannins.

Note that besides the production of dry whites, sweet white wines are produced again, after a short interruption.
