The inhabitants of Bordeaux love this area ; they are attracted to the charming hills along the Garonne, with a scatter of fishermen’s huts, hamlets and harbours

The Premières Côtes de Bordeaux estates stretch along over 60 km of meanders of the Garonne, on a narrow sloping plain and, at times, perch on steep cliffs.
The various soils comprise of ancient deposits near the river, fallen debris at the foot of the cliffs, “molasse” (sandstone often mixed with limestone) on the slopes and pockets of pebbles and fine gravel on the top plain.
The major part of the red wines come from the northern part of the appellation, the white wines are mostly a product of the south. A few moelleux also come from the south, next to the very sweet liquoreux wines.
The red wines are powerful and full of colour; they are for drinking either young or mature (up to 8 years for the best conservation wines). The white wines are subtle with a rich enchanting bouquet.
