Côtes de Bourg A.O.C.
Built in 1253 on a rocky eminence by the English, the citadel of Bourg still stands surrounded by medieval ramparts

The terroir, more homogenous in the Bourgeais than in the Blayais, mostly clay and limestone with a few pockets of gravel, benefits from a suitable sun exposure, very good drainage thanks to its terraces, and the microclimate due to the estuary.

The area produces mostly red wines, but also a few dry and moelleux white wines.

The red Côtes de Bourg, intensely and radiantly crimson, have the « côtes » character, they are rounded, powerful and robust, those from the gravel areas having slightly more elegance.

They develop aromas of red berries, leather and tobacco.

The white wines are pleasant, subtle and fruity.
